Prologue: The Setting and Dramatis Personae

This isn’t really a personal blog, so much as a literary blog. This isn’t going to be about my friends or family or job or the other trivial details of my life, but about my abiding passion: books. This blog is an escapist blog, a way to relax and unwind, and a way to discuss my love of books.

As you might gather from the title, I adore detective fiction and mysteries. I was introduced to Agatha Christie and Conan Doyle stories as a young teenager, and have never stopped reading from the genre. Although I do read other genres, such as fantasy and science fiction, my foremost interest—and the focus of this blog—will be on mysteries.

I will be posting reviews and discussions of mystery/crime , discussing film and television adaptations, and posting author recommendations, as well as uploading media clips and related links. On occasion, I may post reviews and discussions of books outside the mystery genre, to “mix it up.”

The blog's URL comes from the crime anthology by Dilys Winn; the title is one of the genre's oldest tropes (everyone knows the butler did it!). My handle comes from (in my personal opinion) the best crime game ever created, Clue (or Cluedo for those of you across the pond). Everyone knows Miss Scarlett is the best character: she always gets to move first, and who doesn't want to be the mysterious femme fatale?

Good sleuthing!

  1. LOL OMG, I LOVE Clue! I actually have 14 versions of the game (that includes 3 versions of Clue Jr.) as well as 2 of the books printed in the early/mid 90s! Can't wait to read more.
OH... I should probably do a post on MY blog dealing with Clue... thanx for the idea!
